The 13-digit EAN-13 European Article Number as a GTIN standard consists of these three main components.
The Universal Product Code (UPC) is a barcode symbology that is widely used in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and other countries for tracking trade items in stores.
The European Article Number (EAN) is a Global Trade Item Number standard describing a barcode symbology and numbering system. It's used in global trade to identify a specific retail product type, from a specific manufacturer.
Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) can be used by a company to uniquely identify all of its trade items. GTIN describes a family of EAN and UPC global data structures. For North American companies, the UPC is an existing form of the GTIN.
The 13-digit (EAN European Article Number) and 12-digit UPC (Universal Product Code) as a GTIN standard consists of these three main components.
The first digits of the Barcode identify the Barcodes Pro Member Organization (not necessarily where the product is actually made).Note that EAN-13 codes beginning with 0 are actually 12-digit UPC codes with prepended 0 digit.
The product code is assigned by the manufacturer. The product code immediately follows manufacturer code. The total length of manufacturer code plus product code should be 9 or 10 digits.
The check digit is an additional digit, used to verify that a barcode has been scanned correctly.
All barcodes are available in SVG, PNG formats and different styles for download.
